Skate ONTARIO Mission Statement

Our goal is to inform skateboarders in Ontario about their environment and educate the greater public about skateboarders and their sport. We oppose the criminalization of skateboarding, and the harassment of youth pursuing this popular past-time.

We publish a magazine/guide with listings of all the skateparks in Ontario. The guide contains a listing of all companies and organizations with an interest in the development of the skate community in Ontario. The guide is free and subsidized by the skateboard industry (retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, of clothing, hardware, and accessories, magazines, video, and web sites).

We support the construction of public skateboard facilities. We seek to educate those in political office, parks and recreation, and the landscape architecture industry about the construction of safe and functional skateboard parks. We encourage the creation of parks that allow skateboarders of all ages, and skill levels to participate, and believe that modern parks should have pyramids, ledges and flat banks, but should also have wide open areas of smooth flat ground, quarter pipes with different transitions, banks with concave, and snake runs into bowls. Kids should learn to turn. (Obstacles like concave banks and bowls will encourage young people to get comfortable rolling and cruising - a long forgotten art and the basics of ALL skateboarding. Loosen those trucks!)
